
Salvatore holds a postgraduate specialisation in Non-Clinical Human Genetics from the University of Catania, Italy, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, UK. An experienced life sciences and molecular diagnostics executive, he has a strong track record in technology development, product translation and innovation management. He has developed his professional career across Italy, the UK and Spain.
As DESTINA’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), he is responsible for leading the company’s technology and innovation strategy, overseeing research and development, product pipelines, and the evolution of proprietary diagnostic platforms. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is a co-inventor on multiple patent families that underpin DESTINA’s technology portfolio. Salvatore works closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners, manages publicly and privately funded programmes, and identifies new product, application, and market opportunities. He plays a central role in translating innovation into commercially viable diagnostic solutions and creating long-term value.
