DESTINA Genomics Ltd is a biotechnology company established in Edinburgh in 2011 as a spin-off from the School of Chemistry, University of Edinburgh. In July 2012, DESTINA Genomica S.L. was established as a wholly owned subsidiary. DESTINA was founded with a mission to transform the field of nucleic acid testing and diagnostic assay solutions. We aim to achieve this by commercialising a platform-agnostic, patented chemistry that enables the detection of nucleic acids and their mimetics with unprecedented precision. We believe in the transformative potential of RNA biomarkers in research, drug development and clinical diagnostics and are therefore particularly focused on leveraging our technology for RNA detection. It offers a unique, highly differentiated approach that addresses important RNA stability issues, streamlines laboratory workflows and facilitates the use of circulating RNA as an essential biomarker in a wide range of clinical laboratories. We are committed to delivering outstanding value.
DESTINA has created a unique and reliable chemistry for highly specific detection of nucleic acids. It can be used to identify any known target nucleic acid sequence, and in particular can directly detect small RNA’s, without the multiple steps required by current methods.
Our ambition is to position DESTINA Genomics Ltd as a market leader and innovator in the rapidly evolving field of molecular diagnostics. We envision a world where routine use of RNA biomarkers is a reality, and we are at the forefront of making it possible. We expect our technology to seamlessly integrate with existing detection platforms to enable earlier and more accurate disease detection, thereby contributing to improved patient outcomes. With a keen eye on market trends, the company is poised to make meaningful progress in his RNA therapeutics and CRISPR markets. We are always committed to innovation, collaboration and the pursuit of excellence. We are DESTINA – we are part of the future of molecular diagnostics.
The two cities are centres for scientific excellence and innovation, particularly in the life sciences. Our location gives us unique access to the best of the University of Edinburgh and Granada, the Genyo Institute of Granada and a wide range of world class technology companies.
